William Donald Turner passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born February 27, 1941 in Nowata to Agnes (Eversole) and Andrew W. Turner. Donnie graduated from Nowata High School in 1959 and continued his education until returning to Nowata to join the family business, Turner Foods and later Turner Brothers Meats. He also served for 2 years as a medic in the Army after college. On June 12, 1970 Don married the Love of his life, Kathie Jean Huggard, in Nowata. Donnie never met a stranger. He knew people everywhere he went. Seldom when he didn't know anyone he would talk to people until he could make a connection with them. He loved the hours he spent visiting with friends, family and even strangers. Don never forgot a name or a face. He was a genuine, caring, kind individual, the kind you are lucky to meet once in a lifetime. He treasured his wife of almost 43 years, Kathie until her passing last June. They truly had a love of a lifetime together. We rejoice knowing they are once again together. He adored his daughters and grandchildren more than anything in this world. He would do anything for anyone at a moment's notice. Nowata will miss the great man, and great presence of Don Turner. Don is survived by two daughters, Michelle Turner of The Colony, Texas, Angela Kay Turner of Nowata; a sister, Ruthie Colclasure and husband Wayne of Nowata; two grandchildren, Eli Fegans and Josie Turner, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathie Turner; a brother, Richard Turner.
