That began his 60 year law enforcement career. He later became Chief of Police in Nowata and later the Undersheriff of Nowata County until his supposed retirement in the 1970's. His retirement did not last long, as he once again went to work as a Deputy Sheriff and at the time of his death was still a Reserve Deputy. In those years he held a license with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, as well as his Private Investigator license. He loved flying his airplane and enjoyed taking people flying. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Nowata.
