Wanda Mcgowan

Wanda Meram McGowan went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2020.  Wanda was born September 22, 1936 to Ross and Meram Linn in Chelsea, OK.  She was the oldest of their five children.  Preceding her in death were her parents Ross and Meram Linn, her daughter Sharon Gaye Battenfield, her husband Pete McGowan, two brothers John Linn and Lonnie Linn of Afton, OK.  Surviving her are one sister Sue Bryant of Broken Arrow, OK and one brother and his wife Ronnie and Kathy Linn of Broken Arrow, OK, a daughter Becky Rostykus of Coweta, OK and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wanda loved to travel.  She and Pete traveled to Egypt and rode camels and saw the pyramids.  They went to the Holy Land and walked where Jesus walked.  They went to Rome and saw the Pope on the balcony of the Vatican.  They went to Spain.  They traveled the US enjoying the scenic mountains and oceans from coast to coast and were humbled when they visited the WWII Arizona Memorial in Hawaii.

Wanda retired from American Airlines and afterwards became a very successful realtor in the Broken Arrow and metropolitan Tulsa area.  She loved buying and flipping houses as well as building them.

She loved family and friends and especially hosting family reunions.  Her greatest passion was personally supporting missionaries laboring in foreign lands.  She has received many testimonials from her missionary friends of how her support has enabled them to win souls in Haiti, Nepal, India, Paraguay and various other countries.

She was a faithful and devout servant of the Lord.  She was always comfortable sharing the love of God and faith in His word with others.

Wanda was captivated by the Paraguay mission because of the dream that Rhonda Knox had in 2014. Wanda McGowan invested in that first trip they took to this country and has stayed FAITHFUL ever since. The Ratcliffe family who moved there after that first trip, gave up everything for the call, to the unreached people in Paraguay. Wanda was also captivated by this AMAZING Ratcliffe family, who gave up comforts of home to reach out in the deepest jungles all those needing hope.  Wanda loved hearing the stories of hundreds coming to Jesus. Great is her reward.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be sent to Grove Christian Center Paraguay Missions, P.O. Box 450997, Grove, OK 74345 to honor her love for missions.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m - 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home.  She will be interred at Sixkiller Cemetery in Afton, OK.  Services are under the direction of Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home.
