Wanda Handle

Wanda Jean Handle, age 70, went to her heavenly home on December 7, 2011 surrounded by her family at her home in Jay, Oklahoma. Wanda was born on January 17, 1941 in Eucha, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Roy and Pansy (Kenney) Starr. Wanda was united in marriage to her husband of 50 years, Audrey Handle in January 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma. Wanda was a retired Kindergarten teacher who dedicated over twenty years of her life to the Jay Public School system. Teaching was very important to Wanda for many reasons, but the main reason was because she was the first person in her family to receive a degree. Wanda loved to read, play bingo, and spend time with her family. Everyone who knew her said that she made the best chicken and noodles and candy in the county. Wanda also played the bass and sang with her husband for many years. Saturday nights at Beck School House was a favorite venue for the couple to display their musical talents and share time with their grandchildren. Her parents, two brothers Larry Starr and Doug Starr and a son Alan Handle preceded Wanda in death. Her husband Audrey Handle of the home, four children Bill Handle and his wife Eva of Jay, Oklahoma, Debbie Reece of Jay, Oklahoma, Joy McMartin and husband Mic of Joplin, Missouri, and Dal Handle of Salina, Oklahoma; two brothers L.D. Starr and John "Brownie" Starr, survive Wanda. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren; Shaunda Davis, Jennifer Davis, Billy Handle, Misty Reece, Jana Jefferson, Bobby Reece, Audrey "Binger" Case, Andrea Mercer, Ryan Handle, Kasha Wiese, Brian Handle, April Handle and Alton Praytor and fourteen great- grandchildren. The family would also like to send a heart-felt thank you to Good Shepherd Hospice and the City of Jay for everything. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Grove, Oklahoma with Minister Doug Rainbolt officiating. Wanda will be laid to rest at Round Springs Cemetery in Eucha, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be her special grandson-in-law Jared Davis, Cale Wiese, Billy Handle, Bobby Reece, Ryan Handle and Audrey "Binger" Case.
