Vermont Jake Wiens, age 90 of Ketchum, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013. Jake was born in Jefferson, OK on March 30, 1922 to Jacob and Hazil (Alverson) Wiens. He graduated Ketchum High School in 1942. A month after graduation he joined the United States Army. He proudly served during WWII and was a D-Day Veteran. Later in life Jake worked for numerous years as a plumber. He enjoyed making rugs and quilts with his wife, and working at the church. He was a member of Ketchum Baptist Church where he volunteered on many of the building projects. Survivors include his loving wife Neoma, daughter Marjorie Luther, son James Wiens, brother Dale Wiens, grandchildren: April Luther, Lucretia Varnum, Robby Luther, and Bufford Luther, 3 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman Wiens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 147, Vinita, OK 74301 Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Ketchum Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow at Ketchum Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
