Velma Morris

Velma Jean Morris, 77 year old Grove resident, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020.  Velma was born in Siloam Springs, AR on September 9, 1943 to Velmer and Christine (Anderson) Wise.  She had a caring, loving heart and a nurturing spirit.  She worked numerous years at a nursing home as a Physical and Respiratory Therapist Aid.  After retiring from the nursing home, she was called to run a daycare from her home.  She watched the children of the nursing home employees, even those who’s parents worked the night shift.  Even while raising her own kids she opened her home to foster children.  Velma was also extremely crafty.  She did crochet, ceramics, oil painting, making dreamcatchers, and sewed all her daughters’ clothes.  She was an excellent homemaker; gardening, canning, and cooking everything from scratch.

In her legacy she leaves behind her daughters: Cindy Winters of Grove, Candace Mehl and husband Bill of Ellsworth,KS,  Jennifer Bowers and husband Clinton of Grove, and special grandson James Corydon Morris, 10 additional grandchildren: Daryl Atkinson, Shawn Atkinson, April Cherry, Sarah Cherry, Kirsten Morris, Casey Tuzil, Mariah Cornelson, Ali Ybarra, Aaron Bowers, and Jordan Bowers, 7 great grandchildren: Allister Shankle, Roselyn Cornelson, Jackson Morris, Aiden Atkinson, Arianna Atkinson, Alex Morris, and Leo Morris, the father of her children James B. Morris, 3 siblings: Carol Ann Bohonan, Roger Wise and wife Connie, and Gary Wise and wife Cindy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was greeted at heaven’s gate by her parents, daughter Brenda Beck, and granddaughter Sierra Winters.
