Velma Harvey

Velma Jean Harvey, 81, passed away Thursday, January 14, at her home in Nowata. She was born in Nowata on June 8, 1928, the daughter of Leo and Nettie (Lemmons) Dick. Velma was a homemaker, attended the Nowata Nazarene Church. She did embroidery, cross word puzzles, had beautiful handwriting, and kept wonderful records of events. Velma was united in marriage to Ellis Harvey on June 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1997. Survivors include: 2 daughters; Sharron and husband Gurvy Gunter of Jonesboro, Louisiana, Lillian Ludwig of Yorkville, Illinois. Four sisters; Lillian Crisp, Margaret Smith, Leona Hogue, and Ruth Hill all of Nowata , Oklahoma. Five brothers; Donald Dick , Tuttle, Ok., Charles Dick, Yukon, Ok., Joe Dick, South Coffeyville, Ok., Paul Dick, and John Dick of Dewey, Ok. Three Grandchildren: Eugene Summers, Baton Rouge, La. Lisa Evans, Joliet, Ill, and Tina Jeffers, Yorkville, Ill. Three Great Grandchildren: Alex Evans and Zack Evans, Joliet, Ill and Taylor Summers, Baton Rouge, La. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Nowata Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Ok. Visitation will be available Sunday, 1 P.M.to 9 P.M., Monday, 8 A.M. to 9 P.M. with the family being present 7 to 8. Memorials may be given to 10-33 Wheelchairs Vans, and may be left at the funeral home. Benjamin Funeral Service was entrusted to conduct the services.
