Roy Harrison

Roy Fredrick Harrison, 78 year old longtime Vinita resident, died Monday January 21, 2013 at Rosewood Terrace in Vinita. He was born August 13, 1934 in Big Cabin, OK the son of Guy Thomas Harrison and Hester Tuell Harrison. He graduated from Big Cabin High School then attended NEO A & M at Miami. Roy was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Johnson at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita on March 18, 1963 were they have remained members. He retired from Eastern State Hospital where He was a charge aide on 12 building mainly and 10 building also. Both were the highest security level. He was a calm cool storm. He took everything in stride when things were not going great. But when Roy took over as Wyatt Earp said "it all ends now". Roy loved sports, attending all possible Vinita Hornets football and basketball games as well as the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, also the OPEA 1989 member of the year. He loved his dog Peanut, horses, cars, Rodeo, rodeo parades, and talking on the CB Radio. Roy leaves behind his loving wife Barbara of the home, nephews: Dave Harrison, Edward Sullivan and wife Teresa, Rodney Sullivan and wife Andrea, Russell Sullivan and wife Sandy, Butch and Reynold Peterson, cousin, Norman Tuell and wife Geneva. Nieces include, Kathy and Christine Harrison, Debbie Barnes and husband Vernon, Charlanne Sullivan, 10 great nieces and nephews, 3 great-great nieces and 4 great - great nephews and Vickie Stobaugh. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Luginbuel Funeral Home with Brother Will Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Big Cabin Cemetery.
