Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. 918-256-5555. Rose Mary Johnston, 89 year old Vinita resident, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 in Vinita. She was born on May 4, 1928 in Vinita to Albert and Bessie Hazel (Olrich) Minson. Rose Mary was married to Robert H. "Bob" Johnston on July 29, 1950 in Vinita, he preceded her in death on February 9, 2016. They lived in Durham, Oklahoma for a couple of years where she worked as a school teacher, then they moved to Tulsa. They moved back to Vinita in 1960 and became a farm family, and raising their four boys. Rose Mary was a member of the Otterbein Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. She also did substitute teaching for over 15 years at area schools, as well as help Bob on the farm. Rose Mary was a talented quilter and participated many years at the county fair. She was a member of the Harmony Homemakers Club and was the Oklahoma State Home Maker of the year in 1987. Rose Mary served as leader of the Craig County 4-H for many years and help judge exhibits at county fairs. She was also very active with the Buckles the Bear Seat Belt Safety Program. Preceding her in death were; her parents, husband, one brother, Albert Lee Minson and a daughter in-law, Susan (Rankin) Johnston. The family includes; her four sons, David Johnston and wife Vanessa of Aurora, MO, Kevin Johnston and wife Linda of Jenks, Mark Johnston and wife Diane of Vinita and Keith Johnston of Big Cabin; eleven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Luginbuel Funeral Home on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Don Baker officiating.
