Robert Phillips

Robert Lee Philips, 82 year old Strang resident, departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Heartsworth Center for Nursing in Vinita. He was born on July 22, 1931 in Spavinaw to John Henry and Mary Gladys (Robertson) Phillips. He was a graduate of Jay High School and served his country in the United States Army from July of 1949 until August of 1953. Earlier in life he married Elnora M. Nipp on August 13, 1952 in Gainesville, Texas, they were married for 31 years. They have three children, two boys and a daughter. He married Anna Marie Pedersen on December 19, 1983 in Derby Colorado, she survives of the home. Robert worked most of his life as a welder and truck driver until his retirement. He loved to spend time fishing and riding horses until his health no longer permitted him to do so. Robert was a member of the Church on the Hill in Spavinaw. The family includes: his wife Anna of the home; two sons, Keith Phillips of Ardmore, Bobby Phillips and wife Mary Ann of Ardmore; daughter, Elaine Owens and husband Sam of Ardmore; grandchildren, Jodi Davis, Kevin Phillips, Jerry Keith Phillips, Richard "Sparky" Phillips, Robert Phillips, Joshua Owens and Casey Owens; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; step-children, J. D. Herbeck and wife Vickie, Jim Herbeck; Debbie Greenwood and husband Art, Rebekka Wilson and husband Dan; six step-grandchildren and fifteen step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence McClain (Deceased) sister in-law Jean McClain of Ketchum, James McClain and wife Jane of Ketchum; sisters, Zetta Delilah Scott "Dee" (Deceased), Shirley Fowler of Strang, Ernestine Wright of Ketchum, and Loretta Tugman of Vinita. Others preceding him in death were his parents, and step-father. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley. The graveside service will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mose-Ridge Cemetery near Topsy, with Pastor Benny Paul officiating.
