Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Robert Steven Black, 72, of Nowata, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Nowata to Vera Maude (Guthrie) and Jake Edward Black. He graduated from Nowata High School. He enjoyed watching OU football, and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams. Robert also liked to play cards (pitch) and enjoyed rubbing it in when he was winning. Dominoes were another game he enjoyed with his family. Robert was a happy go lucky person and had a wonderful attitude towards life. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and will be missed by many friends and family. Robert is survived by four children, Cindy Metcalf and husband Jim, Coy Black and wife Virginia, Justin Black, Kyle Black and wife Jona; eight siblings, Nancy Reeves of Nowata, Jake "Pete" Black and wife Mary of Langley, Jerry Black of Nowata, Rodney Black of Nowata, Larry "Dean" Black of Coweta, Connie Anderson of Tulsa, John Black of Nowata, Jackie Hathcoat of Broken Arrow and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Vera Black; a son, Steven Black, and a grandchild.
