Raymond Darveau

Raymond Joseph Darveau of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away peacefully February 3, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Raymond was born January 14, 1930 in Rulo, Nebraska, the son of Peter B. Darveaux and Mary A. Majerus Darveaux. He graduated with the 1948 Senior Class of the Sacred Heart High School, Falls City, Nebraska. Raymond joined the United States Navy in 1948 where he served until 1952. He attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1957. Raymond and the former Alyce Abigail Dannecker were united in marriage on October 1, 1951 at St. Louis Cathedral in St. Louis, Missouri. Alyce preceded him in death on February 1, 1991. On February 14, 1992, Raymond and Lenora G. Werner were united in marriage in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, Nebraska. They made their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Raymond worked for Sperry Univac and American Smelting and Refining Company in Salt Lake City, and retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville in July of 1993. Raymond was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Bartlesville. He was a very spiritual person; his faith always being very strong. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He always had a sense of humor and was always thinking of others. Some of his favorite pastimes were taking "things" apart and fixing anything, fishing and he loved any "gadget". He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alyce; son, Mark; sister, Rita Metzner; son-in-law, Douglas Castleton; and great-grandson, Gabriel Darveau. He is survived by his wife, Lenora Darveau of Bartlesville; daughters, Theresa D. Castleton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rene Marie Wyndham (Kurt) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Denise Diane Hamlin (John) of Independence, Kansas, Arienne Ray Travis (Brent) of Bartlesville; sons, Kevin Joseph Darveaux, Kerry Stephen Darveau (Carla) of Heber City, Utah, and Byron Reid Darveau of Bartlesville; brothers, Bernard Darveaux of Holton, Kansas, Gerard Darveaux of Carter Lake, Iowa, Peter Darveaux of Independence, Missouri, Norbert Darveaux of Valley Falls, Kansas, Michael Darveaux of Oswego, Illinois, and Raphael Darveaux of Falls City, Nebraska; sisters, Mary G. Terry of Meridan, Kansas, Barbara Schuetz of Falls City, Nebraska, and Joyce Darveaux of Fort Collins, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, in the St. John Catholic Church. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, in the Neekamp Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, 710 S.E. Dewey. Father Festus Maliwa will be the celebrant for the Mass and also will lead the Rosary. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Rulo, Nebraska.
