Paul Freeman Witty Born June 13, 1935 to Robert Witty and Mabel (Waller) Witty in Rio Honda Texas. Raised on cattle ranches in Texas and Oklahoma attending most of his schooling in Lenapah, Ok. Until the age of 14 when he left home to make his own way, hiring on at Ewing Hassell's Big Creek Ranch as a ranch hand and moved into the bunkhouse at the headquarters east of Lenapah. On a rare trip to town, he met the love of his life, Martha Russell at the REX Theater in Nowata, Ok. she worked concession stand . They married on Sept. 30 1957. He volunteered for the US Army at age 20 completed his basic training at Fort Bliss in Texas then was deployed to Germany with his Artillery unit where he was stationed at the same army base at the same time as Elvis Presley, after being honorably discharged in 1959 he returned home to Martha and begin his family. Two sons, Eddie in 1960 and Joe in 1962. Paul worked hard to keep them fed and clothed, a lifelong trait from a man who led by example for his sons, working on ranches, in the oilfields and on pipelines until he tried out for and landed a job with Peabody Coal company as a D9 Dozer operator in 1970, never the man to sit around, he also worked in Coffeyville, Ks. For Phillips steel as a crane operator for most of those years as well as the mines, coal miner all night, crane operator all day. He retired in 1991 and was the ranch hand for his son's cattle operation until 2012 when he finally retired for real. He left this world to be with Jesus on October 1 2018 He was preceded in death by his parents and little sister Barbara, he is survived by his wife of 61 years and 1 day, Martha, his 2 sons Eddie and Joe, a grandson Paul Ray Witty and his wife Tashena, and his great granddaughters Lexi Rena and Kalle Jo, all of Delaware, a brother Ray Witty of Bartlesville, OK. and a sister Betty Hallum of Reed Springs Missouri.
