Patrick Joe Byrd

Patrick Joe Byrd – aka, Bunn, Pedro, Chief, was born June 21, 1948, and passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 75 years., 6 months, 18 days. Parents: Thomas John Byrd and Cynthia (Sultzer) Byrd aka, (New Grandma, Gwed).  Patrick was a descendant of early settlers and immigrant Cherokees (Trail of Tears) a fluent Cherokee Speaker, Full Blood Indian.

Patrick is survived by four sisters; twin Patsy Stilley of Siloam Springs, Arkansa, Lora Bean of Kansas, Oklahoma, Alice Fencer of Jay, Oklahoma, Suzanna Hogshooter (Billy) of Buffalo Pens, Oklahoma, three brothers, Thomas Byrd (Kathy) of Pryor, Oklahoma, James Byrd (Rhonda) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dennis Byrd (Norma) of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and nieces and nephews to numerous to mention from Oregon to Kentucky.

Preceded in death by his father and mother, wife of 17 years, Nancy Silk, one brother Tommy Byrd, one sister Marie Byrd, nice Cecilia Byrd, grandparents Wilburn Sultzer & Betsy (Owens) Sultzer Parchcorn (aka Old Grandma, GeLiNo), brothers-in-laws Steven “Dickie” Stilley, Cecil Soldier, Junior Fencer, J.M. Francis and Don Bean, four half-sisters, Lillie, Bessie, Anna Sue and Faye.

Saved as a child at Long Prairie Church, Baptized by Pastor Nofire, reaffirmed with a “Big Amen” December 2023 till the Lord took him to rest in Pease.

Patrick took great pride in being “The Cop” in Gans Oklahoma, also a Laborer and Mechanic as a hobby with a funny sense of humor.  Asking where’s my twenty dollars at birthday and Christmas time from his brothers and sisters.

Patrick attended school at Lowery, Little Kansas, Wyandotte and Sequoyah.

Wake service will be held at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma, January 16, 2024, from 7-9 PM with Reverend Jess Glass. Funeral service will be held, January 17, 2024, at 1 PM at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, with Reverend Stanley Grass officiating.  Interment at Clouds Creek Cemetery under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.
