Missack Jamison

M. Henry Jamison was born on October 28, 1921 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He was the son of M. Harry Yacubian and Sarah "Serabian" Yacubian, both immigrants from Armenia. He was raised in the Boston area where he also received his early education, graduating high school in 1938. He furthered his education by attending the University of Alabama where he received his B.S. and M.S in Chemical Engineering and he received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He later legally changed his surname from Yacubian to Jamison. Henry entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he served during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and he returned to Boston and then on to Alabama where he completed his engineering studies at the University of Alabama. On December 26, 1948, Henry and Anna Jo Byrd were united in marriage in Birmingham, Alabama and they lived in Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, Philadelphia, and New York City, before finally settling in Bartlesville in November of 1962. Henry's longtime employment with Phillips Petroleum Company began in 1962 and continued until his retirement in 1982. At the time of his retirement, Henry was Manager of Marketing Research & Development. After his retirement from Phillips, Henry worked for Saudi Arabia Basic Industry Corporation (S.A.B.I.C). During that time, the family lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for 12 years. Henry had traveled all over the world during his lifetime. He loved to read, especially Civil War History and the New York Times newspaper. Also one of his pleasures was smoking good Cuban cigars. He was a proud veteran and was especially proud of his American heritage. When his children were growing up in Bartlesville, Henry attended every school event and both daughters have many fond memories of him always being there to watch or cheer them on. Henry always enjoyed classical and Big Band music, old movies, particularly black and white movies and the Marx Brothers were favorites. Some of the traits with which his family describes him are "very likeable and easy to get along with". Even after his retirement, he kept in touch with former co-workers and old friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Anna Jo, of the family home in Bartlesville; daughters, Nancy Ellen Jamison of Bartlesville, and Carol Lee (Jamison) Egan and her husband, Brian, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Egan and Erin Jamison Egan both of Dallas; three nieces and one nephew, of Boston .
