Melvina Sutherland

Melvina Ruth Sutherland, 90, of Nowata passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, OK. She was born March 12, 1922 in Alluwe to Ruby Mae (Wolfe) and Henry Thomas "Tim" Stanart. She attended school in Alluwe and on April 14, 1941 she married Weldon Bliss Sutherland in Nowata. She lived her entire life in the Alluwe area. Ruth enjoyed quilting and making plastic canvas items. She also enjoyed canning and gardening. Ruth was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed time she spent with the Sr. Citizens Center in Nowata, and the friends she had there. Ruth will be missed by many. Ruth is survived by four children, Paul Sutherland and wife Linda Sue of Alluwe, Linda Ruth Wilson of Bartlesville, Jerry Don Sutherland and wife Barbara of Grapevine, Texas, Anthony "Rocky" Sutherland and wife Margaret of Alluwe; three sisters, Darlene Meridith and Lois Reeder both of Kansas City, Kansas, Nadine Wesson of Delaware, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Tim and Ruby Stanart, her husband Weldon Bliss Sutherland, and seven siblings, Howard Stanart, Rusty Stanart, Madaline Lea Stanart, Timmie June Urban, Sonny Stanart, Lawrance Cy Stanart, and Henry Thomas Stanart, Jr. Graveside services for Melvina Ruth Sutherland are 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.
