Mary Elizabeth Gilbert Booton, age 104, passed away peacefully Friday, September 29, 2006. She was born January 14, 1902, in Armstrong County, Texas, to Lucien Green Gilbert and Tabitha Gertrude (Campbell) Gilbert. She attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri. In February 1939, she married Floyd E. Booton, a native of Craig County. Mr. Booton was in the insurance business in Vinita, and she was his devoted wife. Prior to his death in 1978, they both enjoyed traveling and made many trips to different parts of the world. Although she had no children of her own, she was a loving aunt and friend. A woman of great strength and resilience, Mrs. Booton lived in the home she had shared with her husband until age 100, when she moved to Rosewood Terrace. A charter member of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mrs. Booton was also a member of the First Christian Church of Vinita and the Premiere Worthwhile Club. She loved to fish and was an avid bridge player. Mary Booton is survived by nephews, Paul M. Booton, Jr. of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Jay D. Maxwell of Newport Beach, California, and faithful friend, Dorothy Stanley of Vinita. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Rosewood Terrace for its excellent care of their loved one. Special appreciation goes to her devoted companions Linda Higgins and Lorene White. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Christian Church of Vinita or to the charity of one's choosing. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Fairview Cemetery. Pastor Bill Beard will officiate. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita
