Marvin Sexton

Marvin Dean Sexton, passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the age of 78. Marvin was born on May 23, 1935 in Rogers, AR, the son of the late Marvin Harley Sexton and Lillie (Grover) Sexton. Marvin grew up during most of his adolescent years in Grove, OK where he attended school. After school he joined the United States Army serving his country from December of 1953 until being honorably discharged in December of 1955. After the service, Marvin went to work for his step-father at the Phillips 66 gas station in Grove where worked for several years. On January 21, 1964 Marvin married Carolyn Sue Jackson of Zena, OK. The couple moved to Tulsa, OK where Marvin worked as a electroplater for 12 years. The couple eventually moved to Eucha, OK where Marvin did mechanic work for many years. Towards the end of his working career, he and Carolyn work on several chicken farms. Marvin had a passion for fishing and reading but most of all he loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Genea McNealy. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home; one daughter Kristy Sexton of Miami, OK; one son Scott Sexton of Eucha, OK; one grandson Issiah Sexton; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at the Delaware Baptist Church on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 2PM with Pastor Mike Earp, presiding. The burial will follow at the Zena Cemetery in Zena, OK. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Marvin's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com. Casket bearers will be Dale Goins, Tuck Jeffries, William Burleson, Richard Jeffries, Hubert Hicks, and Scott Sexton.
