Martha Adair

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma (918)786-2261 ~ Martha Josephine Williams Adair was born on April 21, 1918 to Clarence E. "Pete" Williams and Anna Dora Covey Williams. She passed away the week before Easter on March 23, 2016. After her family moved to Grove her senior year, she graduated from Grove High School. Following graduation, she attended Harding College in Searcy, AR for three years. At that time she returned to Grove to become the bookkeeper at Williams Motor Company, her father's Ford dealership. She married Cullen L. Adair in Grove in 1940. They were married for 50 years before Cullen's death, which was also the week before Easter, twenty-five years ago. She and Cullen owned a grocery store in Grove for a short time. Then they worked with Martha's father at his Ford dealership, which they later purchased, and renamed the Adair Ford Company. She continued to be the bookkeeper for the business, which she had been for most of her life since college. Martha also served as the tag agent in Grove. She was an active member of the Grove Church of Christ and then later the College Church of Christ in Searcy, AR. Martha enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, and golfing. She was a member of the Grand Lake Quilters, the Sweet Annie Herb Club, and the Iris Unit of the Garden Club. In 2009, she moved to Searcy, Arkansas, where her daughter lives, and she remained in Arkansas for the rest of her life. She is survived by her two children, Ann Elizabeth Hobby and husband Ken of Searcy, AR and Charles Edward "Chuck" Adair of Sand Springs, OK. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her two sisters, Myrene Parker and Mary Buffington. A visitation and viewing will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, March 27, 2016, with services following at 2:30 pm, both at the Church of Christ in Grove, Oklahoma.
