Lura Fry

Grove, OK - Lura Mae Fry, 85, died Friday night at Integris Grove General Hospital. Mae was born April 18, 1921 at Clemensaw, Arizona to Roland Howard Bean and Edna Dephane (Pedrick) Bean. Mae grew up in Arizona surrounded by family & friends. She was a people person and never met a stranger. Mae moved to Tiff City, Missouri in the 1970s with her husband, Ben Fry, after his retirement. She was involved with the Tiff City Willing Workers and became a Stanley Dealer. In 1986, Mae & Ben sold their farm and decided to travel and visit children. She returned to this area in 1990s and she and Ben move into the Pleasant Grove Apartments. In 1999, Mae returned to California to be near children and grandchildren. She moved to Grove, Oklahoma in October 2005 and made her home in the Grove Nursing Center. She was quite the social butterfly and was elected Miss Valentine of the care facility in 2006. Family was her number one priority. Raising her children, cleaning and ironing was how she spent most of her younger adult days and after her children were grown, her time was spent loving her "grandys". Survivors include her children, Bob Heydorn of Redondo Beach, California, Ron Heydorn of Victorsville, California, Pat Weldon of Victorsville, Cheri Harris of Lake Elsinore, California, Vicky Fescine of Grove, Oklahoma, Norma Jean Hampton of Cedar Ridge, Colorado, Sue Flake of Casper, Wyoming, Jim Fry of Council, Idaho, Shirley Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa and Jerry Fry of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one sister, Marian Diekhoff of Redondo Beach, California; 41 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Ben on April 20 1996 and by four children, Joyce Barjas, Bill Heydorn, Dickie Lee Renfro and Coleen Fry. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Buck officiating. Interment will be in Beaman Cemetery, Anderson, Missouri under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
