Luella Smith

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555, Luella Anna (Mays) Smith, 85 year old Ketchum resident, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Integris Baptist Health Center in Miami. She was born on April 17, 1930 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Bennie Lee and Mabel Hazel (Scofield) Mays. On June 1, 1947 she married Lewyn Eugene "JR" Smith, he preceded her in death on October 12, 2012. The lived in Loma Linda, California for 60 years before moving back to Ketchum in 2006. Luella had managed a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Yucaipa, California and also had worked in the laundry department of a nursing facility. She was a member of the Ketchum Seventh Day Adventist Church. Luella was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, making porcelain dolls, and was just a very artistic person. In her earlier years she was a roller skate dancer and a very good bowler. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Lewyn "JR" Smith, a daughter Cindy Parry in 1992 and a brother Cecil Mays. The family includes: her son Michael Smith and wife Lilarae of Grove, her daughter, Linda Hossler and husband Ron of Angelus Oaks, California; siblings, Joe Mays of Riverside, California, Avalon Rozema of Beaumont, California, Frances Richards of Ketchum, Maxine Jones of Pasadena, California; grandchildren, Valarie Carpenter, Laura Smith, Steven Smith, Ashley Howard, Kristine Smith, Raini Hossler; great-grandchildren, Trevor Carpenter, Michael, Jace and Liliana Howard. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Ketchum Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Jerry Mayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
