Lois Speer

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita 918-256-5555: Lois Evelyn Speer, 94 year old Bluejacket resident, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. She was born on September 8, 1919 in Bluejacket to Joseph and Rose (Weston) Mays. Evelyn was married to J. O. Speer, who preceded her in death on July 1, 1972. She was a Supervisor at Vinita Flag and Apron for many years. Evelyn was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Vinita. She enjoyed sewing, raising a vegetable garden, canning and most of all taking care of her chickens. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband; a son, Russell Clinton Speer; sister's Pauline Powell and Lola Giles; brother's Bob and Leslie Mays. The family includes: her son Phil Speer and wife Micki of Vinita, daughter Geraldine "Gerry" Mennen and husband Leonard of Tampa, Florida; a brother, Kenneth Mays of Afton; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a very special friend Sarah Smith; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton, with Mr. Clyde Bailey officiating.
