Lester Harriman

Lester W. Harriman, age 87, and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in the Heritage villa Nursing Center. Services for Mr. Harriman will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville. Lester William Harriman was born on April 3, 1926 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Vincent Harriman and Nola (Stapleton) Harriman. After graduating high school in Caney, Kansas, Lester entered World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He then furthered his education by attending Coffeyville, Kansas Community College. Lester became an employee of Dow Chemical Company, working in Engineering and Construction Services, Dow USA. He held several patents from that employment, retiring after 43 years of service in 1994. In 1996, he moved from Caney, Kansas to Bartlesville where he and Phyllis (Gourley) Tingler were united in marriage. The couple had made their home in Bartlesville since that time. Lester attended Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville and was a Lion's Club Member in Sedan, Kansas. He loved to fish, especially Lake Livingston in Livingston, Texas. He enjoyed traveling with Phyllis and taking the path less travelled and enjoying the scenery. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Bartlesville; son, Karl Harriman and his wife, Susan, of Angleton, Texas; step-sons, Ray Tingler and his wife, Teri, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gary L. Tingler of Bartlesville; four grandchildren, Amanda (Luce) Ardoin and her husband, Josh, Travis Luce, Ashley Harriman and Natalie Harriman; four step-grandchildren, Adam Tingler, Trinidy Roecker and her husband, Michael, Erika Williams and Josh Tingler and his wife, Dawn; two great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert "Bob" Harriman and his wife, Naomi, of Cherryvale, Kansas; and one son-in-law, Earl H. Luce, of Orange Grove, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Cathy Harriman Luce.
