Leroy Turner

Leroy Turner, passed away on September 27, 2024, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Born on August 22, 1956, in Claremore, Oklahoma to the late Benny Turner and Arrowanah L. (Gourd) Turner. Leroy lived a life filled with passion for the outdoors, a love for fishing, and enjoyment of western movies and shows. He was known for his profound dedication to his family.

He is survived by his children: Lynelle Turner and her partner Darren Samuel of Broken Arrow, Stephanie Turner of California, Richard Turner of Pryor, and Kevin Turner of Arkansas. Leroy also leaves behind a loving network that includes his sister Ellen and her husband Terry Culp, as well as his brother Terry Rattling Gourd and his wife Elaine of Pryor, and many nieces and nephews. He was proud to be a grandfather to ten grandchildren and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his son, Lee Roy Turner, his granddaughter, Ella Moriah Locust, brothers JD Turner, Raymond Swake and sister Delores King.

Visitation will take place on October 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on October 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Piney Baptist Church in Jay, Oklahoma.

Leroy Turner’s legacy will live on through the countless memories he created and the love he shared with family and friends. His spirit will be greatly missed, but the impact he made on those around him will be cherished forever.
