Len Dalquest, native of Vinita, OK passed away on Tuesday October 13 at his home on Grand Lake with wife Nancy and family by his side. Below is a summary of his life in his own words
My Life
One of the disadvantages of getting old is that you get to attend a lot of funerals. Inevitably at these ceremonies, the deceased person seems to always turns into a Saint. At times I wondered whether I was at the right funeral.
So, for the record...... I am not a Saint....far from it. I had my good side and my not so good side....and I have to admit I can be a royal pain at times...
Here is what I am most proud of:
1. Growing up in Vinita. and the Grand Lake area.
2. Having four children that have blessed us with 13 wonderful grandchildren and 8 active great grandkids.
3. Always being there for my parents as they got older
3. Having the opportunity to see the world and its diversity during my 30+ years with GE
4. Making successful EMS services happen in Craig and Delaware county
5 Being a supportive husband to Nancy as she moved up the executive ladder and then launched her own company.
6. Being an OU fan- -- GO SOONERS.
Here is what I could have done better
1.Been more patient and spent more quality time with my kids as they were growing up
2. Been more patient of others - especially Nancy's type A girlfriends
3.. Say Thank you and I love you more often
So, I leave you with these last words of wisdom:
Go into this week with the attitude that your peace, your health of mind, and your heart mean more than getting everything else done. That your smile matters,
That feeling rested matters. That holding the hand of your loved one’s matter. So, pause lots, function at a pace that doesn’t pull you apart. Honor the things that
make you feel good inside, the things that make you feel alive. Give time to those things this week. Make time the gift it is, by giving it to what really matters to you. — S.C. Lourie of Butterflies and Pebbles
I've had a good life.......thank you for sharing yours with me and remember to tell those close to you that you love them.
