Leona Stanbery

Leona Rosetta Stanbery, age 78, died on June 8, 2011 at her residence in Grove, Oklahoma. The daughter of Deward L. and Naomi E. (Jones) Sevens, Leona was born on March 10, 1933. She was united in marriage to Lavon Stanbery on March 18, 1950. She was a member of the American Legion John Quallate Unit Women's Auxiliary. Leona enjoyed traveling and anything outside. She was known to have a "green-thumb" and could out crappie fish everyone. Leona was an avid reader and enjoyed singing with her sisters. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children Robert Dane Stanbery and Deanna Cook, one granddaughter Ashley Renee Hulion, and one brother Lome D. Sevens. Leona is survived by her three children Dana Stanbery and his wife Carol of Colcord, Oklahoma, Debbie Baker and her husband Gil, and Danita Hulion and her husband John all from Grove, Oklahoma, five grandchildren Christopher Dane Stanbery, Melissa Lynn Prine, Lyndsey Rose Baker, John Tyler Hulion, and Gordon Tillery, and six stepgrandchildren. She was blessed with three great grandchildren Robert William Prine, Kaitlyn M. Prine, Ashly Lavon Hulion. Leona was also survived by four sisters Patty Jo Gibe, Audene Hurst, Mary A. Layman and Verba Lee Treece, a sister-in-law Maxine Toliver and her son Stanley, and a brother-in-law Billy Stanbery and his wife Johnna and their children, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Olympus Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma.
