Lavoris (Rybolt) Tate "Shorty", 85, of Hominy, OK died Monday, October 3, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 19, 1926 in Ramona, Oklahoma, daughter of Merle Edgar Rybolt and Minnie Pearl (Larkins) Rybolt. Lavoris grew up in the Ramona, Ochelata and Barnsdall area, receiving her education and graduating from Barnsdall High School. Lavoris was united in marriage to William Heber Tate in 1942. He preceded Lavoris in death in January of 2006. Lavoris was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She enjoyed sewing and was a great cook. She also enjoyed: working at the bowling alley and being part of a traveling women's bowling league, working on Fridays at the O.A.Y. sale, fishing (when she had the time), traveling to Branson to see the shows and to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play ball. Lavoris was preceded in death by: her husband, William Heber Tate; her parents and a brother, Merle Eugene Rybolt. She is survived by: her son, Larry Tate of Sand Springs, OK; two grandsons: Mark Tate and Jeff and his wife Mallary Tate; two great-grandchildren: Nathan and Natalynn Tate; two sisters: Sharon Trotter and Marlyn Davis, both of Hominy, OK; nieces: Sheila, Carolyn and Karen; nephews: Terry, Bruce and Jon along with numerous other relatives and dear friends.
