ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - June Waddell age 89 and widow of John G. Waddell passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in Bartlesville. June was born in the shadow of Cirlce Mountain, on March 11, 1928, to parents Euretta "Etta May" Elizabeth May and Segal "Sig" William Lawrence, who were in the farming and hay business. She grew up in Bartlesville and graduated from College High School in 1946 where she was a varsity cheerleader. She was noted for her stories of Bartlesville area history and families. Her stories and memories were featured in the Examiner Enterprise in September 2016. Following graduation, June married Duel Sears, also of Bartlesville, and had three sons, Doug, Joe, and Earl Sears. On January 3, 1961, June married John G. Waddell of Guthrie, Oklahoma. June made her home in Bartlesville. After employment with Phillips Petroleum, she went into the restaurant business. June served as manager of several restaurants in Bartlesville before she bought and operated her own restaurant, Ruby Darby's. After retiring from the restaurant scene in Bartlesville, she and John worked at the Hamilton Stores in Yellowstone National Park. June is survived by her two sons Joe Sears and Earl Sears and his wife, Jane, of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren Dustin Sears, his wife, Shelly, and their four children of Placerville, California; Robert Clapp, his wife, Erica, of Colombia, Missouri; Ryan Sears, his wife, Krisha, and their two children of Houston, Texas; and Hollye Sears Hunt and her husband, John, of Norman, Oklahoma; John W. Waddell and his children of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Steven Waddell, his wife, Diana, and their son of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Elizabeth "Beth" Waddell Seifert, her husband, Marc, and their children of Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her parents Etta May and Sig Lawrence, her siblings, Helen Lawrence Morgan, Bill, Howard, and Jim Lawrence, her husband, John G. Waddell, her son, Douglas Clark Sears, and granddaughter, Jessica Sears. In recent years, June was an active member of the Dewey Nutrition Center and the 55-Plus Center where she was an enthusiastic bingo player. June enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking, traveling, fishing, gardening, and telling colorful family stories. She never met a stranger. Come and go visitation for June will be on Wednesday March 22, from 9:00 am 7:30 pm family will be present 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 23, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
