Joanna Frances Crofford, 77, of Strang, Oklahoma passed away at St. John Medical Center, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 27, 2019. She was born August 2, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Leonard and Joanna (Ostrowski) Phillips. Joanna graduated from high school in Tulsa, and on June 7, 1969 she married William Newton Crofford Jr. in Tulsa. She was very involved in her children’s lives serving as a 4-H leader and taught Sunday school. Joanna enjoyed sewing, cooking and raising beautiful roses in her gardens. She loved caring for the animals. Her horses, dogs, chickens, and goats brought her much enjoyment. Above all she loved her family, her husband, children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and other family had a special place in her heart, and she cherished every one of them. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding Mrs. Crofford in death are her parents, Leonard and Joanna Phillips, her husband William Newton Crofford Jr., and a son Matthew Crofford. Survivors include her children, Joanna Whitmire and husband David, of Fairland, Sarah Rankhorn and husband Jon, of Pryor, Jeanette Morgans of Claremore, Bill Crofford of Vinita, and Mary Crofford of Strang; 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Michael Phillips and wife Nancy of Tulsa, Mary Ann Pace and husband Terry, of Strang; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Joanna Crofford at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Luginbuel’s South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Luginbuel’s South Grand Lake Funeral Home.
