Joan Matthews McElhaney

Joan Matthews McElhaney, age 84, passed away on October 26, 2024, in her hometown of Jay, Oklahoma. Joan was born on December 6, 1939, to the late Clyde and Gladys (Medford) Matthews.

Joan dedicated her life to caring for others, serving with compassion and expertise as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her love for her family.

Joan was the proud mother of her son, Ken McElhaney. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Gladise Matthews, as well as her late husband, Jerry McElhaney, her sister, Helen Powell, and her brother, Gene Matthews.

Joan had a creative spirit that thrived in her leisure time. Her hobbies included sewing, dressmaking and photography.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 1, 2024, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, she will be laid to rest at Duffield Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma.

Joan Matthews McElhaney will be remembered for her kindness, her loving spirit, and her profound contributions to her community as a caregiver and family member.
