Jeannette Rott, 75-year-old Oologah resident passed away Monday, August 14, 2006 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa after a courageous 10 month battle with cancer. Jeannette Rott was born November 23, 1930, in Ramona, Oklahoma, to Earl and Iona Myrtle (Jacobs) Ross. At a young age she moved to Chelsea, where she attended elementary and some high school. She later moved to Talala where she finished High School. On September 12, 1947 she married George Rott in Claremore. They made their first home in the Talala area where the lake is now located. In 1959, they moved to the farm at Oologah where they have lived since. In 1985 they were selected as Rogers County farm family of the year. She loved the farm and enjoyed being part of a working farm. She was a loving mother and treasured every moment with her children. She opened a child care center in her home so she could continue working with children. Mrs. Rott had one special day a week that was designated "Baking Day" where she treated the family to her specialty baked goods. Thanksgiving was also a special occasion when Mrs. Rott was known to go on a cooking and baking frenzy. She was well known among family and friends for her yeast breads, her cinnamon rolls, and her cakes and pies. In addition to spending a great deal of time cooking, baking, canning, and gardening, she seemed to never miss an opportunity to make cards and play board games with the children. Mrs. Rott is survived by her husband George Rott of the home; by two daughters, Charlotte and her husband Kevin Myers of Kohler, Wisconsin and Angela and her husband Kevin Blaylock of Oklahoma City; by one son, Larry and his wife Lori Rott of Oologah; by three brothers, John Ross of Oologah, Vernon Ross of Big Cabin, and Joe Ross of Huntington Beach, California; two sisters, Connie Buster of Sulphur, Louisiana and Beverly Morris of Ripley, Oklahoma; by seven grandchildren, Erik Myers, Laura Myers, Dustin Usher, Stacey Usher, Amy McCumber, Michaela Agee, Nicole Rott; two great-granddaughters, Aiden and Madison McCumber; two step-grandchildren, Jack and Tyler Blaylock; and numerous friends. Mrs. Rott was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Dewey L. Ross.
