James "Chris" Daniel

James Christian “Chris” Daniel, age 70 of Holway Point, took his first breath in heaven at 2:03 p.m., January 15, 2021.  Chris was born in Kansas City, MO on January 12, 1951 to Arl and Billie (Bruton) Daniel.  Chris enjoyed learning, as well as teaching.  In 1973, he earned his bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Political Science from Northeastern State University.  In 1980, he earned his master’s degree in Administration from the University of Tulsa.  Lastly, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Tulsa Law School in 1983.  During this span, Chris taught at Union Public Schools from 1973-1978, Bixby Public Schools from 1978-1982, and Tulsa Junior College (Tulsa Community College) in 1985.  Chris then practiced law for the remainder of the career.  The last firm he worked for was The Baker Law Firm, PLLC, working along his good friend Thomas Baker.

Chris was a lover of life.  He enjoyed hiking, being outdoors, fishing, and collecting historical memorabilia.  He also had a great love for the Lord.  Every day, Chris would pray: “Please God, allow your peace, love, and light to shine through me to others in this dark world.”

Chris was an amazing and loving man.  Throughout his life’s journey he earned the love and respect of many friends, family, former students, and colleagues.  He was a phenomenal husband to Alexis and though their marriage may have been short, they shared a love to last a lifetime.  For Christmas, Alexis bought him a star and named it “Pulchra Viro Meo”, Latin for “My Beautiful Man”.  They will forever share that star together.

Survivors include his loving wife Alexis Daniel, Jennifer Russell, whom Chris was a father figure to, and her husband Trey and son Owen, sister Harriet Leake, former brother-in-law Willis Moore and wife Becky, special friends Cindy and Philip Templeman, law partner and close friend Thomas E. Baker and wife Debbie, good friend Patrick Hoey, nieces and nephews: James Leake and wife Regan, John Daniel Leake and wife Mary, Marjory Leake and wife Jutice, 9 great nieces and nephews, brother in-law Roger Goodwin (Deborah Benway) of Florida, and mother-n-law Barbara Goodwin of Scottsdale, and last but not least his beloved, faithful dog Anne-Marie.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, and late wife Jenny Daniel who passed in 2016.
