Visitation hours are Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday, May 31, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. James Edward Hicks, 77, of Nowata, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. He was born August 30, 1935 in Childers to Eva Jane (Adamson) and Walter Harrison Hicks. He graduated from Childers High School. James enjoyed visiting family and friends and especially enjoyed playing Yahtzee with his sisters. James served many years as the pastor of Happy Hill Holiness Church in Childers, Oklahoma as well as serving as a guest pastor in Albany, Kentucky before retiring full time. James is survived by his two children, Edward Ray Hicks and wife Kathy of Palm Bay, FL, Cynthia Kay Arnold and husband Scott of West Melbourne FL; three grandsons, Wesley Scott Arnold and wife Jenny of West Melbourne, FL, James Burton Hicks and wife Brittany of Biloxi, MS, Travis Ray Hicks of Palm Bay, FL; three great granddaughters, Alyssa Lynn Arnold and Haley Kay Arnold both of West Melbourne FL and Hartley Faith Hicks of Biloxi, MS; eight siblings, Vernon Hicks and wife Neva of Nowata, Paul Hicks and wife Betty of Nowata, Lorene Corle of Chelsea, Noni Collier of Nowata, Eva Jane Green and husband Lawrence of Childers, Ancil Hicks of Tyro, KS, Wendall Hicks of Nowata, Aileen Hughes of Nowata, several close cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very special little dog "Missy" that watched over him night and day. James is preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, Jewel Loughry, Walter Hicks, Evelyn Hughes, Nelsene Hicks, Delbert Hicks, Howard Hicks, Barbara Bray, and an infant brother Lloyd Hicks.
