James Barnard

Grove. OK ~ James Ray Barnard, 74 year old, Grove, Oklahoma resident passed away, Saturday December 21, 2013, with his family by his side. James was born on February 11, 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Suzanna Raincrow Walker and James Arthur Barnard. James started working delivering papers for Western Union while living at Tulsa Boys Home. He worked as a craftsman for United Steel Fabricator in Global Springs, Colorado, then he worked for Midas Muffler in Kansas City, Missouri. On November 7, 1959 James married Berta Stanley in Miami, OK. The couple started their home in Ray, AZ where James was the head timekeeper for the entire Kennecott Copper Mill. James later worked as an apprentice steel worker for Joplin F.A.B. manufacturing. James career in steel work continued as he worked in as certified welder, Boilermaker for Webco Tank Company from which he retired in 1985. Even in retirement James got certified as a diesel mechanic and worked for John Deere and for Tyson Foods. James enjoyed hot rods, playing the guitar, fishing and camping, but above all he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. James was also an avid football fan, especially for OU. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Adair #99, and was a mason for over 50 years. James was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Claude, Cecil, Floyd, and Donald, and three sisters, Pauline, Katherine, and Marie. James is survived by his wife of 54 years Berta of the home; three children: daughter Elizabeth Hicks and husband Christopher of Grove, Oklahoma, daughter Kimberly Buzzard and husband Bobby, of Jay, Oklahoma, and son, Charles Wayne Barnard. James is also survived by nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Amanda, Jeremy, BJ, Jinny, Justin, Levi, and Cody, and twelve great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hunter, Fisher, Kabe, Ryker, Rigsby, Luke, Alex, Shelby, Bailey, TayLynn, and William. The graveside service will be held at the Lone Elm Cemetery on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2PM with Chaplain Larry Moore, presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing James's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
