Ida Ward

Ida Mae Ward, age 88 and lifetime Big Cabin resident, died Monday June 1, 2009 at Rosewood Terrace. Ida was born on March 30, 1921. She is the daughter of James and Mary (Sailor) Stanberry. She was raised in the Big Cabin area and attended Big Cabin High School. She was a member of the basketball team and graduated from Big Cabin in 1939. On August 14, 1944 she was united in marriage to Harold Ward. Ida was of the Methodist faith. She took pride in raising her four children, quilting, and going to the Senior Citizens. Ida is preceded in death by her parents, one brother James Stanberry, sister Ordie Carpenter, and one daughter Lynn Gay. Survivors include her husband Harold Ward, children Mickey Ward and wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, IL, Darlene James and husband John of Dewey, OK, and son Eddie Ward and wife Lequetta of Vinita, OK, two sisters, Addie Johnson and Myrtle Magorian, both of California, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family will be greeting friends on Thursday June 4, 2009 at Luginbuel Funeral Chapel from 6-7 p.m. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday June 5, 2009 at Big Cabin Cemetery.
