Harmon Allen

Harmon Benson Allen, a former Tulsa lawyer passed on Saturday, Dec. 25th at 2010 following an extended illness. Mr. Allen was born on Oct. 24,1934 in Colcord Oklahoma to Ray Benson and Gertrude Hyde Allen. He spent his childhood there and attended Mt Hermon church as a young man. Harmon graduated Jay H. S. in 1952 and went on to earn his bachelors of arts degree from Northeastern State. Soon after he joined the U.S. army and served his country in Germany and areas in Europe. Having finished his duties he moved to Kansas City where he was a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios. Harmon soon moved to Tulsa where he attended The University of Tulsa Law School, later becoming a successful attorney at several law firms. A well known case in the state of Oklahoma was awarded by the supreme court to Harmon's client. This case set a precedent where an ex-wife was to pay alimony to her ex-husband in a divorce case. Harmon excelled at many things in his lifetime and was never afraid of hard work. He choose to farm, work cattle and do trucking. His life was also spent mentoring people both with legal advice and personal problems. A man with a big heart, he was the kind of man who helped everyone he met and would go out of his way to help anyone who need help. "Whoever asked", he would say. Harmon is survived by a family who loved and respected him dearly. His sister Myrna Cramer and husband Fred Purkey of Tulsa, brothers Duane and Gene Allen and their respective spouses , Evelyn and Georgia of Jay and many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on December 29, 2010 at the Mt. Hermon Church in Jay, Oklahoma. Brother James Bryant and Brother Brandon McCombs will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Hermon Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday December 28, 2010 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Hermon Church, or your favorite local charity in Harmon's honor.
