Goldie Louise Downing, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother was taken home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2023, in Jay, Oklahoma. She was born on March 12, 1930, in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to Frank and Ada Brundridge.
Goldie's passion for life was evident in everything she did. She had a creative soul and found joy in various hobbies and interests. She delighted in hunting for treasures at garage sales and took pleasure in sewing. Goldie's talent extended to making outfits for her children and crafting special toys like rag dolls. She had a gift for bringing joy to others through her creations. One of Goldie's greatest joys came from her love of horses. Riding Old Shortie from the Brown's farm was an experience that brought her immense happiness. She possessed a remarkable gift for playing the guitar and her favorite genre was Old Gospel music, through which she expressed her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Goldie found solace and strength in her religious beliefs, attending church regularly as a cornerstone of her Christian faith. In addition to her creative endeavors and deep faith, Goldie also had a talent for baking. Her pumpkin bread held a special place in the hearts of all who tasted it. Goldie was a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered. Goldie’s soul has found eternal peace, and her memory will continue to illuminate the lives she touched with love and inspiration.
Goldie was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Joe Silvester Downing, as well as her parents, Frank, and Ada Brundridge. She also joins her siblings Donald Ray Brundridge, Wanda Jean Brundridge, and Ruby Lois Tracy in eternal peace.
Goldie Louise Downing is survived by her loving children: Linda Woods, Coeta Williams, Debbe Downing, and Bradley Joe Downing. Her legacy also lives on through 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren who were sources of immense joy and pride for Goldie.
A visitation to honor Goldie's beautiful life will be held on December 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home located in Jay, Oklahoma. The funeral service will take place the following day, December 15, 2023, at Faith Mission Church on 501 S 7th St in Jay, Oklahoma and the service will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at Hiderbrand Cemetery in Zena, Oklahoma at 3:30 PM.
