Grove, Ok. - Gerald R. VanDyke was born October 1, 1926 in St. Francis, Kansas. He passed away June 18, 2006 in Freeman Hospital, Neosho, Missouri at the age of 79 years. Gerald served in the United States Army Paratroopers during World War II. After World War II, he lived and worked in Chicago, Illinois for twenty-five years. He lived the remainder of his life in Grove, Oklahoma where he owned and operated a trucking business. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley J. Enochs and husband, David of Marietta, Ohio, Victoria S. Swain and husband Randy of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, Sandra K. Camfield of Williamstown, West Virginia, and Cynthia A. Schafer and husband Dan of Columbus, Ohio; his loving companion of sixteen years, Joyce Fitzgerald of Stella, Missouri; two sisters, Wanda Sparks and husband Wylie of Grove, Oklahoma and Marlene VanDyke of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; two brothers, Gayland VanDyke and wife Beryl of Decatur, Arkansas and Lonnie VanDyke of Henryetta, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Gerald was preceded in death by one son, Roger VanDyke; his father, John Wesley VanDyke; his mother, Christina Neidig VanDyke; one sister, Rosemary Scrogham. Services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Frank Arnall officiating.
