Gerald Courtney

Gerald Dean Courtney, 72, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Grove General Hospital. He was born on November 19, 1935 in McCune, Kansas to William and Lottie (Suttles) Courtney. Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army. He was maintenance supervisor for Rainbow Mental Health. Gerald enjoyed woodworking, carvings, model airplanes and helping at the Christian HELP Center food pantry. He went on several mission trips with his church, First United Methodist Church in Grove. Gerald loved spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Grove; one son, Barry Courtney and his wife, Bonnie of Topeka, Ks.; one daughter, Leslie Jackson of Lewisberg, Ks; four grandchildren, Amy Fletcher, Adrianne Knavel, Alexis Jackson and Glynnis Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Grove. Visitation will follow the service.
