George Stritzke

George Stritzke left this life December 24, 2007 in Nowata, Ok to join his heavenly family. George was born September 24, 1917 at Leonard, Ok to Paul Sr. and Kate Pregler Stritzke. At the age of four months the family moved east of Talala, Ok to a farm on the Verdigris River. As a youth he was very active in 4-H winning numerous prizes and trips. He loved farm life and there wasn't anything he put his hand to he couldn't do. One time he and his brother Joe built a tractor. Then the brothers and dad built a big dike around the farm at Talala thus keeping the floods from coming over the dike and flooding the farm. On May 1, 1955 he and Mary Lay were married at Nowata New Life Assembly of God Church. They built a home 5 miles east of Talala. Sons Tommy, Wayne and Anthony B. "Tony" were born while they lived there. In September 1959 the family moved to Nowata County at the county line. They built their home there and still live there. Their twins Penny and Jenny were born there. George continued farming and ranching until he semi retired. He still worked some until his health and age made him to completely retire. He loved his garden and big tomato patch. Surviving him is his wife Mary of 52 ½ years, son Tom and his wife Jolene, daughters Penny Gonzales and husband Alan, Jenny Deane and husband Walter "Bud". Also five grandchildren Rob Maggard of Nowata, Randall Maggard of Bartlesville, Samantha Gonzales and Eric Gonzales of Nowata Tomi Jo Stritzke. George was preceded in death by a son Tony Stritzke in 2004, his mother and dad, brothers Frank, Joe, Ed and Paul Jr. Graveside service will be held on Friday December 28, 2007 at 11:00 am, in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Henegar officiating. Services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata, Ok. Online Memorials may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the 10-33 Ambulance, or to the New Life Assembly of God Building Fund, 126 N. Cedar, Nowata, Oklahoma 74048.
