George Lane

George Harold Lane George Harold Lane age 86 died Saturday June 21, 2008 in the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, OK. The son of John and Lora (Shipley) Lane, he was born on February 22, 1922 in Row, OK. George married Thelma L. Abbott on December 14, 1942 in Pryor, OK. George worked at the Glider Field north of Vinita and for LockHeed before serving with the U. S. Army in WW II. After serving in Europe he returned to Vinita and worked for H & J Chevrolet. Later he sold cars for Bartgis-Lonergan Chevrolet and Tressler Motors Dealerships in Vinita before opening Midway Motors on Wilson Street. George had preached in the Church of Christ in Zion, Ill and at Timber Hill locally. He was very active in the Church of Christ in Vinita. Surviving: His wife of 66 years Thelma Lane 3 children Bonnie Lane, Ronnie Lane and wife Shirley, and Gary Lane and wife Laquita. 3 granddaughters; Janet Lair and husband Jeff, Carol Sutton and husband Garrett, and Kimberley Williams and Captain Tim Williams who is serving in Iraq 3 great grandchildren McKenzie Sutton, Grant Lair, and Emily Lair. The funeral will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday June 24, 2008 in the Church of Christ in Vinita with Mr. Pat Lair and Mr. Doug Rainbolt officiating. The interment will be in the Fairview cemetery in Vinita The services are under the directions of the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, OK.
