Geneva Mae (Myers) Ward, 95 year old resident of Coalgate, Oklahoma formerly of Vinita, died Thursday September 4, 2014. She was born on January 17, 1919 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to Leslie Henry Myers and Marva L. (Rosecrans) Myers. Geneva married Charles Franklin Ward on June 10, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas, He preceded her in death on January 27, 2006. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Vinita and had attended the First Baptist Church in Coalgate since living there. She had worked at the telephone company and was a housewife. Geneva enjoyed sewing, camping and traveling. She and Charles were very active in their church and enjoyed doing things with their Sunday School Group. Geneva liked to cook and just spending time with Charles over their 55 years of marriage. Late in life she enjoyed watching Charles Stanley minister on television and spending time with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her, husband Charles, parents, Leslie and Marva Myers, a sister, Betty Chaney, mother and father in-law, Forest and Mary Ward, brother in-law, Harold Ward, sister in-law, Pearl (Ward) Grunden, Sister in-law, Lorine Griffen and brother in-law, Ira Ward. The family includes; a brother in-law, George "Doc" Chaney and wife Alvera of Coalgate; nephew, Ricky Glenn Chaney and wife Kristi of Coalgate; niece, Geneva "Genie" L. Chaney of Edmond; great-nephews, Glenn Walker Chaney of Oklahoma City and Charles Garrett Chaney and wife Candace of Henryetta; nephew, Mickey Ward and wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; niece, Darlene Ward James and husband John of Dewey; nephew, Eddie Ward and wife Laquetta of Vinita. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, with Pastor Michael Murphy officiating.
