Gene Housewright

Eugene “Gene” Housewright, 84 old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Gene was born on November 19, 1935 in Olney, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Emmett Arthur Housewright and Edith Anita (Luna) Housewright.  Gene worked as a Production Supervisor for the Love Envelope Company.  He enjoyed playing golf, going fishing, and spending time with his family.  Gene could be a little ornery and had a great sense of humor.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Sherril Sumerall, and siblings; Anita Gerou, Johnny Housewright and Jimmy Housewright.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Darlene (Cohlmeyer) Housewright of the home, his daughter Gail Elder of Tulsa, his son Arthur Housewright and partner John Logan Schmidt of Oklahoma City, his son in law Jimmy Sumerall, his brother Al Housewright of Grove, nephew Erik Housewright, his sister Carol Willard of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his Gomez family. Gene will be dearly missed by his grandsons Chris Elder (Candace) and Nick Elder (Mallory), and six great grandchildren: Mia, Abbie, Alaina, Ella, Journey and Bella.

An open visitation will be held from 8 am – 5 pm, Thursday, July 9, 2020.  Services are scheduled for 10 am, Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove.  Gene will be laid to rest in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
