Eli Tanner

Eli Tanner 47, year old, Jay, Oklahoma resident passed away Monday March 7, 2011 at his home, following an extended illness. Eli was born on January 27, 1964 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Buck and Mary Jane (Buck) Tanner. Eli worked for Simmons Industries in several capacities for over twenty-eight years, before retiring. Eli loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting especially deer, fishing of all kinds, gigging, and playing Indian marbles and horseshoes, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially while watching OU football. Eli is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jimmy and Sammy Tanner and Richard Stick, and one sister, Betty Tanner Wofford. Eli is survived by two sons, Eli Garrett Tanner and Stravis Tanner, both of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, five brothers, Levi, David, Allen, and Joe Tanner, all of Jay, Oklahoma, and Bobby Tanner of Springfield, Oregon, two sisters, Melissa Tanner of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Mary Hamilton of Jay, Oklahoma. Elis is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Eli will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday March 11, 2011 at the Round Springs Baptist Church in Eucha, Oklahoma. Reverend Stanley Grass and Reverend John Summerfield will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma.
