Eleanor Marie (Cranor) Price died Monday, March 23, 2009 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born in rural Washington County on August 31, 1918, the 7th child of Albert Cranor and Zella Shafer-Cranor. She had ten siblings and was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Price lived all her life in Nowata County teaching elementary school for over 40 years. She began her teaching career at Thompson School, a one room school in northeast Nowata County. She taught for numerous years at Childers, Lenapah, and Nowata. Mrs. Price retired from teaching and continued living in Nowata enjoying cooking, sewing, and her work in the church. She was a member of the Nowata Church of God (IHP) and the Nowata County Retired Teacher's Association. Mrs. Price married Chester Price in 1940. They were married for 60 years until his death in 2000. Mrs. Price is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rosalind Price of Olathe, Kansas; by a grandson, Kurt Price and his wife Shannon of Overland Park, Kansas and their four children, Ryan, Megan, Connor, and Makena, of Overland Park; by granddaughter, Kerrie Ollenburger and her husband Jeff and their three children, Katie, Lauren, and Brady of Hutchinson, Kansas. She is also survived by a sister, Wilma Higgins of Allen, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Price also leaves behind hundreds of children who knew her as their teacher.
