Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555, Edward Scott "Eddie" Griffin, 49 year old well known rural Vinita resident, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 with ALS "Lou Gehrig's Disease" at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. He was born on April 11, 1966 in Fullerton, California to Cloyd Bates Griffin, Jr. and Shirley Ann (Mitchell) Griffin. Eddie attended and graduated school in Salina, Oklahoma where he was a standout wrestler and football player. After going to college and getting his associates degree, Eddie went to work in the law enforcement field. He worked in many capacities of law enforcement, He lastly worked as an investigator for the District Attorney's office. Eddie had been a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Langley for the last several years. He had given his life to Christ and enjoyed witnessing to people and making home visits with Pastor Leon until he was no longer able to do so. Eddie belonged to the FOP, A-ONE, OSSAA Officials, ASA Officials. Eddie was a basketball referee and softball umpire for several years, calling many local high school games. He loved helping others as well as making sure his girls made it to their showdeos. Eddie liked to shoe horses, going hunting and fishing, watching his kids and grandkids playing ball and all their other activities. Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents. The family includes: his wife Laura of the home; his daughters, Whitney Wilson and husband Dustin of Adair, Allison Paige Long and husband Deke of Langley, Hailie Griffin of Vinita and Miranda Griffin of Vinita; grandchildren, Brandt, Natalie and Dilaney Wilson, Landan Long, McKynzi and Jeyton Brown; siblings include, Cloyd Griffin, III and wife Ann, David Griffin, Barbara Kindred, Ray Griffin, Steve Byers, Pam Rambarran, Rod Byers and wife Debi, Donna Montgomery and husband Brad, and Dana Owens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. Friends may give to the First Baptist Church in Langley's Building Fund, P. O. Box 202, Langley, OK 74350, in Eddie's memory. Funeral services for Eddie Griffin will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at the Craig County Community Building at the Fairgrounds in Vinita, with Pastor Leon Shade officiating. Interment will follow at the Pheasant Hill Cemetery North of Vinita. Online Condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luignbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
