Edith Montgomery

Edith Montgomery Edith Mae Montgomery passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 from complications of cancer and is now with our heavenly father. Edith was born in Three Brothers, AK, October 24, 1913. She was the only child of Charles F. and Matilda Tate. The Tate family later moved to Broken Arrow, OK and while living there she met and married Lowell W. Johnson in July of 1929. To this union was born three daughters. The family moved to Vinita in 1934. Lowell preceded her in death in 1954. In October of 1958 she married Dennis D. Montgomery of Vinita who preceded her in death in 1986. Edith was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Jimmy Kirk and her step-son Jack Montgomery. Edith worked at Luginbuel Funeral Home for 20 plus years. She was an active member at First Church of God, Vinita until she moved to University Village in Tulsa, so she could be closer to her daughters and family. She is survived by her three daughters; Mary Kathryn Shoultz and husband Leonard, Tulsa; Alice Ann Taylor; Tulsa; Betty Lou Kirk; Lumberton, TX; step-son Bill Montgomery; wife Nancy, Tulsa; and step-daughter-in-law Sandy Montgomery; Broken Arrow. Edith had 10 grandchildren, one step grandson, 29 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren and many friends at Vinita and also at her new residence, University Village retirement home in Tulsa, OK. The family request that donations in her memory be made to the First Church of God, Vinita, OK. Edith's service to celebrate her life will be held at Luginbuel Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
