Earl Ray Stanton, 59, longtime resident of Monkey Island, OK, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 in Tulsa, OK. He was born on May 2, 1947 in rural Perkins, OK to Fred Alvin and Rose Marie (Baldridge) Stanton. He attended school at Tryon. As a young man he served his country during Vietnam in the late sixties serving in the U.S. Army. He spent much of his time in mechanics repairing land and aircraft. Earl moved to the Grand Lake area in the early seventies and was owner/operator of Standard Plumbing, Heat and Air. Earl always kept his customers at heart and was known as the "guy who could fix anything". He was an active member of Lake Center Baptist Church where he attended Sunday school and worship service. Earl enjoyed hunting, working in the garden and "old" car restoration. He donated much of his time during any building and renovation projects at his church including an overseas mission trip. His father, Fred Alvin Stanton, preceded Earl in death. He is survived by his wife Jan, whom he married on June 20, 1986 in Miami, OK. 2 Daughters- Deanna and Sam Harjo of Monkey Island, Shannon and Mickey Smith of Grove, 2 step-daughters; Kristy and Ray Russell of Ponca City, OK, Lorie King of Springfield, MO. Mother Marie Stanton of rural Perkins, OK, 11 grandchildren. Sister; Terry and Tim Conley of Tryon, OK, 2 Brothers; Fred LeRoy and Sheri Stanton of Stillwater, OK, Jimmy Dean and Kathy Stanton of Perkins, OK and not to forget, Lacey the dog. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 in the Lake Center Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Hays officiating. Burial will be in the Rolston Cemetery of Monkey Island. Casket Bearers will be; LeRoy Stanton, Jim Stanton, Carl Turner, Danny Smith, Carl Tesreau and Mike Bridges. Honorary Casket Bearers will be; Sam Harjo, Mickey Smith, Ray Russell, Steve King, Tim Conley and J.D. Tucker. Family wishes donations to be made to Lake Center Baptist Church Building Fund 29020 S. Highway 125, Monkey Island, OK. 74331 Arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
