Pryor, OK - Donald Jack Edens, Sr., 75, died Friday night, October 6, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don was born January 15, 1931 at Tulsa to Vernon Jack Edens and Susie (McDermott) Edens. Don grew up in Tulsa and graduated high school there. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, serving in post-World War II Guam, Midway Island and the Phillipines. He married Cliffa Asbury on April 5, 1950 at Pryor, Oklahoma. After his military duty, Don & Cliffa lived in the San Diego area. From there, Don's vocation as a union welder would take the Edens to many locations. He worked on many pipelines including those in Alaska and the North Sea. The couple moved to Pryor, Oklahoma some 20 years ago and Don retired in 2003. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Welders Union #798 of Tulsa. Don was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed fishing and his computer. Survivors are his wife, Cliffa of the home; six children, Donna Edens and Linda Edens, both of Pryor, Janet Cochran and her husband, Michael of Oktaha, Oklahoma, Karen Barbera and her husband, Mario, Michael Edens and his wife, Linda and Nancy Lanctoe, all of Ironwood, Michigan; on sister, Betty Sue Hoffman and her husband, Mac of Tulsa; a sister-in-law, Kay Edens of Tulsa; a brother-in-law, James Asbury and his wife, Ruth of Eucha, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; by a son, Don Edens, Jr.; by a brother, James Edens and by two half-brothers, Burl and V.C. Edens. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma, with Pastor Brian Bynum officiating. Interment will be in New Eucha Cemetery, Eucha, Oklahoma, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay. Military graveside rites will be accorded Don by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.
