Delbert Berry

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, Oklahoma (918) 256 - 5555 ~ Delbert Eugene Berry 78, returned to his heavenly home on October 31, 2015 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Delbert was born to Hughie and Juanita Berry in Bluejacket Oklahoma, on May 25, 1937. He was a lifetime Craig County resident. He enjoyed a longtime career as a Farmer and Stockman as well as being an over the road truck driver later in his career. He was a longstanding member of the Bluejacket Assembly of God Church. Delbert served his Country with six years as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. Delbert was blessed with a large and loving family. He and his first wife Cathy Berry brought 3 boys into this world. Danny Ray Berry, Michael Eugene Berry, and Stacey Berry. During their upbringing Delbert taught the boys the value of honesty, hard work and the importance of having God as a compass in their lives. Delbert married the love of his life Mariam Berry in 1995. They enjoyed each other's companionship of 20 years. Together they raised a loving daughter, Tara Elder who brought a source of pride to Delbert that only a daughter can give. Delbert is survived by his wife Mariam of the home; his mother Juanita Berry of Bluejacket; his son, Michael E. Berry and wife Shannon of Tulsa; his son, Stacey Berry of Vinita; his daughter Tara Elder and husband Tony Elder of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Howard Berry and wife Donna of Bluejacket; brother Rick Berry of Amarillo, Texas; Grandchildren, Jennifer Fourier and her husband Carl; Jessica Berry; Kelsey Berry; Karisa Berry; Tyler Williams; Emma Williams; Bradley Elder; Casey Elder; and Kiersten Elder; great grandchildren, Lily Fourier and Kacen Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Hughie Berry; infant son Danny Ray Berry; sister, Carol Lee Speer; brother-in-law, Arnold Speer; brother, Wilbur Berry; and his nephew, Jeff Speer. The family will greet friends Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Bluejacket Assembly of God Church in Bluejacket with Reverend Leonard Stoner officiating. Interment will follow at the Bluejacket Cemetery in Bluejacket, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, Oklahoma.
